I work for an economic development district, and this isn't one project, but rather workforce development is a priority of many of our counties/municipalities. We are seeking funding for workforce development, business development, affordable housing, infrastructure including broadband, water treatment, water storage, and electrical system upgrades. Additionally, transportation is a concern in our rural region, and we are looking to create improvements as well as a mobility hub.

"The City of Adelanto is located in the High Desert area of the Inland Empire, CA. It has a 34k population with a MHI of $49k - disadvantaged and distressed. The city owns its public water and wastewater facilities, but the residents are complaining of the current water quality. A recent grassroots movement published a report that highlights the citizens concerns regarding the taste, smell, hardness, and color of the water, as well as the PFAS levels reported. City Council is looking for potential funding sources to improve filtration and the potential to provide water filtration at consumer homes."
"Located in an Opportunity Zone, this 30 unit rental housing project would include mixed income residents- low wage earners for the Casino in Indiana and higher wage earners from the Steel plants in Kentucky. This project would include on-site child care provided by the local YMCA and a Workone office for job placement and training opportunities. This would be funded by multiple sources (LIHTC for the low income housing, EDA (?) for the workforce and childcare facilities, Qualified OZ Fund for the market rate housing, Community Foundation and the local unit of government to own the land and provide match, Impact Investment for the project (?). This is a theoretical development, but in process. The idea is to mix the income of the residents but target first time renters and single parent households in both groups. This income mix would help break the cycle of poverty for the lower income residents and, as per the Coleman Report (1964 Civil Rights Act), would elevate the attainment of the children in residence."
"The McMinnville Innovation center is a focused campus-style site that supports innovative industrial research and development and provides Class A office space for corporate development, for both new and growing companies in McMinnville. This will be a place for collaboration, shared resources, and targeted investments that will create a super-charged entrepreneurial environment that will increase high-density living wage jobs on McMinnville’s largest available employment site off of Highway 18. A community plan focuses on the development of 140-acre to include an innovation center with office space for research and development, incubators for industrial entrepreneurs and manufacturers, with 33 net acres of commercial development. The city has allocated $250,000 in ARPA funding an Infrastructure Feasibility Study. The city will also be undertaking the McMinnville Municipal Airport Master Plan update in 2023. It is also part of a Business Oregon planning grant for Regional Innovation Hubs in Oregon."

Our focus is currently on the first four miles of an extension up through Savanna to Mississippi Palisades State Park.
WHF/ACE propose to diversify the coal-based economy via innovative technology to use waste coal/coal supplies to produce Agriculture Products – Fertilizer and eventually Urea – for domestic and global markets. ACE’s innovative system uses coal in an environmentally safe carbon sequestering process to manufacture fertilizer from Abandoned Mine and Surface Mine Cleanup Sites. WHF/ACE’s Public and Private Partnership approach uses existing networks of Non-Profits, Government Agencies with State, Regional, and Local Programs to prepare a SHOVEL READY project for West Virginia (WV) Coal Communities to diversify economic development and provide jobs in Appalachian Coal Communities.
State Highway Route 6 through Eastham is one of the Cape Cod regions major transportation corridors, functioning as the only roadway “bridge” to the Outer Cape. This 4-lane highway runs north to south through the center of Eastham, bisecting the Town and creating ongoing challenges in the areas of public safety, economic opportunity, and quality of life, to name a few. Business activity in Eastham is concentrated at key “activity centers” along Route 6, which means the highway also serves as Eastham’s de-facto Main Street. However, bicycle and pedestrian accommodations along the roadway are poor to nonexistent, limiting connectivity between businesses and nearby residential areas, and conveying to residents and visitors that Eastham is a place to pass through, rather than a destination in its own right. The Town of Eastham’s 5-Year Strategic Plan includes strategies to improve safety for all modes of transportation, including the redesign of Route 6 to improve safety and reduce speeds (Strategy 4a). Town actions in this area also impact other aspects of the Strategic Plan, such as improving quality of life (Strategy 3) and supporting intentional and well-designed development (Strategy 2) that reinforces Eastham’s small-town community character. The Route 6 Pre-Development Project will result in engineered designs for roadway improvements along a key segment of Route 6 through Eastham, increasing safety for bicyclists & pedestrians & paving the way for sustainable, mixed-use investment, particularly in the Eastham Corridor Special District (ECSD), a District of Critical Planning Concern. Given Eastham's unique geography, this project has potential for regional impact in the areas of economic development, public safety, and more."
The high trestle Cascade Bridge is a highlight of the 27 mile Erie Cattaraugus Rail Trail, and could become a regional tourism destination. It has been abandoned for more than 15 years, so needs engineering assessment, design, and construction, and then marketing, amenities and so forth to bring to its full potential.
The State of Delaware, via the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT), and the Kent Economic Partnership are planning on developing an adjacent site to the Dover Air Force Base for economic development purposes called the Central Delaware Aviation Complex (CDAC). Because of a pending joint use agreement with the Department of Defense the CDAC seeks to provide a hub for aviation, aeronautics, and astronautics industries by taking advantage of several unique assets, specifically the existing Civil Air Terminal (CAT) with access to two (2) 10,000-foot runways, existing industrial park infrastructure, an additional 280 acres of potential industrial development, and land use zoning that supports the development of aviation, aeronautics, and astronautics businesses. Strategic development of this area will provide job opportunities for residents of all skill levels and abilities. Job opportunities anticipated include manufacturing, research development, mechanical/technical, and distribution.
